let’s take a quick glance at what happened on the reprise of april 17, 1975 …

Eight shut out innings by both teams.  The problem with that is the eight
inning streak didn't start until the ninth inning. This monstrosity of a
game started out as a slugfest.  It's ironic that neither team could stop
the other from scoring runs in the early part of the game.  Going into the
top of the ninth the score was tied at nine.

Then the pitching clicked or the hitting didn't.  Something like that. Texas
finally broke the scoring drought in the top of the 17th inning when Jim
Fregosi singled and then scored on a Toby Harrah double.  Jim Kaat took the
loss going four innings in relief.
